My ambition as an instructor is to aid and support my students to train them selves and their horses. I think of my role more as a mentor than an instructor, i.e. I want to help the students to understand what is happening in a given situation, and how to seek different possible solutions to a problem instead of just telling them what to do.
Seat training is the foundation of all good riding. By using established exercises the rider's balance, coordination and suppleness is developed. When we walk on the ground, we balance over the hip joint, but when we ride the seat bones are the balance points. Therefore the feeling of balance on horse back needs to be trained. When the rider develops his or hers coordination between hands and legs, that is the aids, the communication with the horse is very much easier. Suppleness in the rider enables him or her to follow the horse with ease. For seat traning I provide calm and safe school horses.
Riding lessons in Classical Riding where the rider gets hands on experience of the technique for communication with the horse through the aids, and also feel the impact on the horse when it performes shoulder-in, half pass, transitions and more at the top of its ability. Since the rider learn how to use relaxation and posture instead of muscular force to control the horse, the rider is enabled to train equestrian tact, the mark of a true horse master.
Work in hand includes all the work done from the ground with the horse. It can be exercises in leading where the horse wears a rope halter, longing or dressage where the horse wears a cavasson or a bridle. Work in hand is a terrific complement to riding since the horse handler can see how the horse moves.
Lectures presents the theoretical foundation. A typical lecture covers technique for the aids and the history of riding. Other topics are work in hand, and the connection between Classical Riding and Classical Philosophy. If you have any particular request or interest I'm happy to shape the content to suite your area of interest. Examples of tailored lectures in the past is dressage for the long distance horse, and training of young horses. Feel free to contact me with your requests.
Clinics are organized according to requests. A typical clinic starts with a theory lecture in the evening day one, and riding day 2 and 3.
Horse training is done according to requests. It can be longer or shorter periods. Normally a period of training ends with one session where I show you the result and how I worked to accomplish this and also one lesson where you ride your horse.
I have lessons and clinics on a regular basis in Sweden (the Stockholm area and Piteå).
